10 Books Celebrating Hispanic and Latinx Heritage
Representation in books is crucial because it may contribute to children's understanding of diverse backgrounds and experiences, as well as contribute to their self-worth and how they see themselves in the world.
Since 1985, the University of Wisconsin-Madison of Education Cooperative Book Center (CCBC) has been collecting data on diversity in children's books in the United States.
CCBC found that only 231/ 3,173, that's about 7% of children's books assessed in 2022, represented Latinx individuals.
This resource provides 10 children's books to honor Hispanic and Latinx perspectives and experiences.
