Thanks for stopping by, I’m Karely.

I'm a first-generation Latina committed to addressing barriers faced by racial and ethnic communities.

This website is a platform where I aim to share my educational and professional insights, offering resources and support to contribute to overall-well being for individuals, children, and families. Learn more about my background below.

About Me

  • I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a B.A. Psychology and B.A. Spanish Studies. Currently, I'm pursuing a master's degree in Psychological Research.

There are challenges I've navigated in my educational journey including the complexities of financing my education, independently navigating higher academia, seeking/ finding guidance and mentorship. These experiences have driven my goal to provide resources and guidance for first-generation, underrepresented students in their educational paths.

  • I have experience working with children and families for over five years. This has included roles in both a community and clinical setting, such as Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Training and Inclusion Coordinator, Home Visitor, and Family Caregiver.

Each role has deepened my understanding of child development and the unique needs of underrepresented families.

  • My research interests are to identify and address multi-level barriers to high quality, evidence-based care for children and families from racial/ethnic minoritized backgrounds.

I specifically strive to conduct work that will address healthcare service disparities experienced by the Latinx community. I aim to bring awareness to this research area, shedding light on the unique challenges faced by the Latinx community in accessing quality healthcare and achieving optimal well-being.

  • Outside of my academic and professional life, I love to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. You'll often find me running, hiking, and soaking up the sun at the beach.

I enjoy spending quality time with my family when I visit home in Northern California. I also enjoy cooking Mexican recipes, my favorite is making chilaquiles!
